It was Francis Bacon who said, “charity begins at home but should not end there,” and this rings indelibly true for me, especially in the area of effecting the change one truly wants to see in one’s community or the world.

It is undeniable that the social and economic challenges facing our local communities, and indeed a larger part of the African continent, are often grim, with few hands willing to ease the burden. However, losing hope is not an option,
and I believe if one person to the next continues to “pay positive change forward,” the continent will witness true transformational affluence, worthy of the world’s attention, good wishes, and even emulation.

While we employ six distinct programs to meet the needs of our foundation recipients, at Stanley Jegede Foundation (SJF), we consider education the key platform as well as the driving force capable of engineering and sustaining the
desired affluence for Africa and its people. For us, education is vital to the wide-reaching development of a people, as their capacity to read, calculate, and think critically provides greater chances of influencing economic growth and socio-political advancement.

Sometimes, our ideas will face tough hurdles, but SJF is home to exceptional individuals who are not afraid to take risks, do things anew, or do them differently—even against all odds. We will change tactics, adopt, discard, or re-adopt strategies, but we will reach our goal of giving at least 100 people a chance at a quality life every year through our education, health, welfare, arts/culture heritage, emergency relief, and international and group strategic projects.

We are also building a versatile stakeholder network and teaming with dedicated partners from various parts of the world to fight the sometimes daunting tasks ahead of us—challenges that range from eradicating extreme poverty to healthcare crises.

Thus, from funding groundbreaking ideas to advocating social change through generic empowerment programs, our mission is simple: to run on the well-oiled wheel of tailored technological innovation and results that offer long-term
benefits for everyone.
